Art Attack: Paint Meets Purpose. Live. Loud. Local.
What do you get when you throw 8 artists, a ticking clock, and a loud, rowdy crowd into one space?
You get Art Attack—a live painting battle where every brushstroke raises money for local school art programs.
This isn’t your quiet gallery walk.
This is 20 minutes on the clock, paint flying, crowds shouting, and kids cheering for their favorite artist like it’s game day.
Why It Started
Back in 2022, while I was running Blank Canvas Arts and teaching art classes nonstop, I stumbled across a stat that stopped me in my tracks:
Wisconsin schools average just $7 per student per year for art education. Seven dollars. Per year. Per kid!
That lit a fire. I thought, what can I do that’s fun, community-driven, and helps fund these programs?
Boom. Art Attack was born.
How It Works
Three rounds. Eight artists. One champion.
In the first two rounds, four artists go head-to-head in a 20-minute live painting battle. The crowd votes with tickets—real dollars going straight to school art funds.
The top two artists face off in a final round, judged by local art teachers, creatives, or community notables.
Every painting created during Art Attack gets raffled off, raising even more support for local students.
It’s messy. It’s electric. It’s art in action—with purpose.

Art Attack Timeline
2022 – The First Strike
The very first Art Attack happened at Ringling Brewing Company right here in Baraboo. It was fast, gritty, and full of heart. We packed in a crowd, let the artists loose, and ended the day knowing this wasn’t going to be a one-time thing.
Funds raised supported the Baraboo School District art program.
2023 – Portage Takes the Brush
In year two, we hit the road and brought Art Attack to the Portage Center for the ARTS in Portage, WI. New town, new crowd, same format. It felt good to share the energy and funnel the raised funds directly into the Portage School District.
It proved this model works—and it travels.
2024 – Steamy, but Solid
Back in Baraboo. The day started with rain and ended in thick humidity, but the event didn’t miss a beat. Artists showed up ready, the crowd came through, and once again, we raised money for the Baraboo School District art program.
By year three, it was clear: Art Attack is becoming a thing.
2025 – Full Circle
We’re back where it began—Baraboo. This year’s event takes place on Sunday, September 28th at the Downtown Baraboo Sunday Market. It’s year four, and we’re building something that really matters.
If you want in, the time is now.
